Another MGR for the NWPG
Built at Shildon Wagon Works in 1968, 354456 spent its short working life of 20 years working the Scottish coal fields until the train it was formed in, ran in to trouble at Dalmellington in 1988 and six MGR wagons we badly derailed.
Rather than the wagons being recovered, they were left to rust at the scene of the accident and NCB paid British Rail for the losses. However, for 354456 at least, a twist of fate saw the wagons dealt with in 2004 and 354456 was donated to the Doon Valley Railway, the other five sadly disposed of.
The NWPG acquired the wagon from the Doon Valley Railway in March 2020 and our aim is to restore the wagon, with extensive work required, to its former glory.
Transport is anticipated on or after July 2020
